morality of mortality
The sculpture transforms itself into an immortal being. The human body has an expiry date. Replacement of old tissue and malfunctional organs are accessible in laboratories, thanks to the progress in medical technology.
Every human life is worth preserving.
Nevertheless, the wealth of the individual determines the value of a human life. Immortality is for sale. Individuals may acquire an additional lifetime and upgrade themselves to immortal beings. However, the majority of people will continue to die of curable diseases.
I was trying to display this conflict by exposing the transforming sculpture with a slowly rotting organ. This project was my design diploma project in 2016.
